RelayFund was formed in December 2011 by a veteran team of capital markets experts who have collectively raised billions of dollars of capital. They expanded the team with entrepreneurs who have deep experience starting and growing businesses, as well as educational and tech talent focused on building the most helpful, most secure and most effective Internet community for crowdfunding capital.
Ken Kousky is a veteran of the IT software and services industries. He is the president and CEO of IP3 Inc. in Saginaw and CEO of the MidMichigan Innovation Center in Midland. IP3 is an information security consulting firm that provides strategic planning, architectural and policy frameworks for enterprise information assurance and IT security. Kousky has successfully started three companies and been instrumental in two turn-arounds and two IPOs. In 1988, he founded an IT services company, Wave Technologies, and within six years guided it through an IPO. Kousky is also a founding member and executive director of the BlueWater Angels Investment Network, and is additionally the executive director of Michigan EB-5, LLC, a global investment program.
In 2010, Kousky was named president of the Saginaw Public Schools Foundation, and he currently chairs the board of Salare Security. He is a member of various boards to promote economic growth in Michigan, including: Michigan Sugar Co., Great Lakes Entrepreneurs Quest, Air Advantage and Duperon Corp. Kousky holds a patent and several professional technology certifications, and has been named Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young. He received his bachelor’s degree in economics and urban studies from Washington University and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
Jeff Lambert is a principal in RelayFund and president and managing partner of the public relations and investor relations firm Lambert, Edwards & Associates (LE&A). He co-founded LE&A in his basement in 1998 and has built it into a top-5 Midwest based agency with over 100 clients based in 20 states and five countries. Lambert Edwards’ 14-year track record of growth has included four acquisitions, most notably the 2009 acquisition of John Bailey & Associates, which was a top Detroit-based agency and has a public affairs office in Lansing. Today, the combined firm has five practice groups – Automotive, Consumer, Financial Communications, Healthcare & Technology and Public Affairs – offices in Michigan’s three major markets – Grand Rapids, Lansing and Detroit, and was named by industry trade journals PR Week and PR News as the 2010 Small Agency of the Year.
Philip W. Blanchard is a principal in RelayFund and co-founder of Hartwick Capital. Prior to joining Hartwick Capital, Blanchard was a Senior Vice President with Conning Asset Management. From 1990 through 1996, Blanchard was a Managing Director of the Chicago office of Furman Selz, LLC, a New York based investment bank serving institutional clients in both the equity and fixed income markets. From 1987 to 1990, Blanchard was the senior corporate bond trader for Van Kampen Merrit. Blanchard has also held portfolio management and trading positions with Robert W. Baird & Co. and Aetna Life and Casualty. Blanchard received an MBA from Columbia University in 1984 and a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from Central Michigan University in 1982.
